2015 SCORE Baja 1000 Coverage

This week, the 48th annual Bud Light SCORE Baja 1000 desert race will take off from the starting line in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, with 250 race teams entered into the race. The Baja 1000 marks the season finale of the five-race 2015 SCORE World Desert Championship.

This year’s loop race will start and finish in Ensenada, as the race will cover 821.38 miles of challenging off-road terrain. SCORE expects the fastest vehicles to complete the race after about 17.5 hours, though all vehicles will have a 33-hour time limit to become an official finisher of the race.

Gustavo Vildosola Jr. leads the Trophy Truck points heading into the Baja 1000 this week.

Pre-race festivities will start tomorrow with tech and contingency of all vehicles and the SCORE Manufacturer’s Midway held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Boulevard Costero in front of the Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center.  The pre-race mandatory driver/rider briefing will also be held on Thursday  at 7 p.m. in the Cathedral Room at the Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center.

The motorcycle and quad classes will be the first to leave the start line on Friday morning, with one vehicle departing at a time every 30 seconds starting at 6 a.m. The car, truck and UTV classes will begin their race at 11 a.m. PT Friday.
